Frequently Asked Questions

Question:  Is there a cost for the initial consultation?

Answer:  No.  The initial consultation is a no-cost and no-obligation.  During this appointment we will take the opportunity to show you the details about our Debt Elimination Plan, and look at your situation to see if we have a match.  We will be able to give you good advice regardless of your situation.  We guarantee that you will not leave the meeting without some valuable insight, whether you choose to use our services or not.

Question:  What are the costs of your service?

Answer:  We charge a percentage of the interest savings that we get for you.  However, if there is a refinance involved, you will not be charged origination fees or discount points for the wholesale, or par, interest rate.  This allows us to stay focused on the number that you should be interested in – the Net Interest Savings that we can get for you with our Debt Elimination Plan.  In most cases, all fees are covered in the financing options that come with the Debt Elimination Plan, which means no out-of-pocket expense for you.

Question:  Will using Debt Free Living’s services destroy my credit?

Answer:  No.  Debt Free Living is not a credit counselor, and as such we will not contact your creditors to negotiate better terms on your debts, nor will we establish a collections system for the repayment of your accounts.  We are simply very good at making better use of your payment dollars to send in early principal payments.  If there is room for improvement, your credit scores will increase over time by using our system.

Question:  I am doing fairly well financially.  Is there still a reason for me to talk to Debt Free Living?

Answer:  Most of our customers are doing well financially.  However, we are trying to help you get out of debt quicker and improve financial health through debt elimination.  Consider this - the average American family, while doing relatively well by today’s financial standards, are spending $430/month more than they bring in. As a result, the average American family is depleting their savings and going further into debt each month.  Very few families have even a 3 month emergency money supply.  This usually means quick financial ruin should job loss, or another major emergency happen.  If you have debt that can be eliminated, call Debt Free Living today at 1-800-DEBT PLA(n).  You have nothing to lose by placing the call, and true financial security could be the benefit.

Question:  Can you deal with debt other than credit cards and unsecured debt?

Answer:  Absolutely.  At Debt Free Living we try to eliminate your entire debt burden, secured or non-secured.  Only when you own your home free and clear will you have complete debt elimination and the financial security that comes with it.

Question:  Does Debt Free Living have any educational products?

Answer:  The Debt Elimination Planning process in and of itself is very educational.  We pride ourselves in our customers understanding the plan that we will put in place for them.  Beyond that, our customers have access to a one-year budgeting program, complete with classroom style seminars, software, and other support materials.  We have found that people who have good budgeting skills are much more successful in staying with their Debt Elimination Plan than those who do not.

Question:  What is the success rate for Debt Free Living?

Answer:  We currently boast the best customer retention rate in the industry at 95%.  What’s more, we have graduates – actual customers who don’t owe a dime to anyone, including on their home.  That statistic alone makes us unique in the industry.  In the year 2000 the average Debt Elimination Plan customer reduced their overall debt by $8,000.  Compared to the rest of the nation, we are doing great!
